Hi, I'm Krysten!
I’m so glad you’re here! As a kid, the world can often feel too large and big feelings can often feel too overwhelming. It is my goal that your child feel heard, validated, and safely challenged to grow as they continue to navigate the world around them. I believe that therapy is a partnership and that authentic, genuine connection is most important for growth and healing. I will strive to not only work with your child, but to know them and to be a place where they can be their true self, finding support free from judgement.
I work primarily with kids and teens experiencing a wide variety of challenges. Common concerns include anxiety, family changes, grief and loss, school related challenges, and emotional regulation. Childhood and adolescence are some of our most formative, yet challenging years filled with emotional development, social pressures, and self exploration. Being a kid is hard! I approach therapy through a person centered and trauma informed lens, creating a supportive environment focused on safety, trust, and collaboration. Therapy is not a one size fits all approach. Each one of us is beautifully unique, presenting with our own set of challenges and lived experiences, which is why I utilize a variety of evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Solution Focused Techniques. For the times when putting thoughts or emotions into words becomes difficult, I will engage with my clients through play therapy and creative/expressive arts. I will work in partnership with both you and your child to find what works best!
When I am not doing therapy, I love getting lost in a good book, staying active through exercise, and spending time with my loved ones.
